My Heartless Queen.

"1..2..3..put on your crown. The Queen of Hearts, never frowns" -Maryam

Welcome back to another Book & Tea Matching !

This weeks book more or less chose its' own tea, mainly because of the surprisingly delightful heroine. I normally choose a tea or coffee flavor to pair my reads with by the way they make me feel or think. However in this case, the decision seems to have been made for me.

I purchased this book almost exactly a year ago expecting to read a book about an evil, sinister, and cunning queen. What I stumbled upon however, was a teenager who loved to bake lemon tarts. Surprise ! Now let's take a look at that pretty picture below <3

The story, very much like Bigalows I Love Lemon tea flavour, starts of with a nice, light, and delightful tone. I picked this up because I had just finished reading Meyer's Lunar Chronicles, an amazing take on our classical fairy tale favorites. In short, I figured this book must be great too! That, my loves, was an understatement.

I fell in love with Catherine (the future queen) right from the start. The joy she found in baking yummy goodies was addictive, and I found both her dreams and the aftermath a puzzling delight. The court joker is a character I'll let you explore on your own. As for the relationship between them, well it seemed to match everything else that is unexplainable (is that even a word?) within this book. Believe me, there are a lot of unexplainables . As much as I love Cath, even she is a peculiar dilemma. The cakes make up for it though.

Sadly to match the refreshing start both found in the cup and chapter, the story ends sour and bitter. The last drops in my cup were pungent, and the last chapters made me want to pour the contents of my cup on the heroine herself...

I slowly became impatient with Cath and almost stopped reading, but my curiosity got the better of me and i struggled through.

Don't get me wrong, the writing is amazing, and this is not your usual Lemon Tea, they're both worth a sip.

So I'll see you soon,

and here's to the yummies.
